According to the Met Office today is the first day of Spring, but then they’re the same people who provide the weather forecasts and we all know how reliable those are. Anyhow as I’m not adverse to totally arbitrary enterprises, I shall be mostly spring cleaning today. Not the poncing around with a feather duster type of spring cleaning though, I’m talking about throwing away as much of the crap I’ve been hoarding as I can.
Destroying old 3M QIC tapes was particularly satisfying. Several of them were labelled as containing backups from my Acorn RiscPC which I certainly haven’t used in quite some years. Although having said satisfying, I must say they’re a damn sight harder dispose of than more modern media; having a healthy chunk of aluminium plate to enhance their structural integrity makes them much stronger than their all plastic modern tape counterparts.
